Figure 101 : The univibe effect is applied to the highlighted section of the wave file.
The univibe effect, originally designed and manufactured by the Uni-Vox company, was used to simulate the sound of a Leslie rotary speaker system. Like the Leslie speaker system, it was originally designed for organ and keyboard players. Guitar players started using it as well. Jimi Hendrix made it a popular sound effect in the late sixties.
Figure 102 : Control settings for the Univibe effect.
In the chorus mode, the original, unaltered, signal can be heard along with the altered signal. In the vibrato mode, only the altered signal is audible. Both chorus and vibrato effects in univibes are different than the modulation delay effects (chorus, flanger, and vibrato). The Univibe sound effect is actually a modified phaser.
