Amp simulators commonly contain two or three types of processors : equalizers, overdrives, and / or wave shapers.
Equalizers, especially Low pass filters stopping around 6khz, are often used to simulate the frequency response of a 12 inch speaker.

Ampire Amp Simulator (2021)
This pluggin comes with the Presonus Studio One Version 4 software. It sounds much better than the old MDA Combo pluggin from 2004.
*I can’t remember if I used a Boss DS-1 Distortion pedal, or a Boss Metal Zone MT-2. If it was the MT-2 I must have added a lot of midrange to it.
