Triangle wave LFOs are commonly used to modulate auto panners, because they sweep at a constant, periodic, rate, from one end of the panorama spectrum to the other (left to right & vice versa). Square wave LFO modulation (figure 52) causes the sound to switch back and forth between speakers from hard right to hard left, without going through the center of the sound field.
