The Apathy albums, Habitual Faith album, and Infinite Skyline Albums have been reworked four times. These are the official versions:
Version 1
These albums were recorded on cassette tape, on a Fostex 4track recorder. I did the first one myself; my friends helped me with recording the other two albums. See the ‘band’ section for personnel. The first two albums where remixed in November 1998, on computer, using the N-track DAW. The last one was imported from analog to digital using the Cool Edit 96 audio editor.
Version 2
These songs were recorded on a computer using N-Track DAW. But they went through a noisy mixer. They were still the best versions of those songs, up to that date. All but three songs (Out of the light, Live –N- Burn, and Seal My Tomb) were recorded by me, Matt Redlin (bass & guitar) & Dale Baughey (drums). It was a time when CD recorders were new, slow, and unreliable. When I saved my work I lost three songs.
Version 3
These songs were recorded on a computer using the Cakewalk Pro Audio DAW. I recorded all 60 songs by myself. I did the guitars; I made the computer play bass and drums. I spent a lot of time on this generation of songs arranging the song parts to fit future vocals and new guitar solos. The Habitual Faith songs became Apathy-Legacy Of Power. The total time on that album went from 67 minutes to 56 minutes. I trimmed the fat on these songs, big-time.
Version 4
The new songs were recorded on a computer using the PreSonus Studio One DAW. Legacy of Power (SA0520) is the same as (SA0420) which was recorded in 2007. Ruins (SA0540) is new and was written and recorded in 2017 & 2018. For the albums Burned into Ash (SA0500), Medieval (SA0510), and Animal Instinct (SA0530), I removed the songs Outside, The Taken, Time To Go, and Mortified. I replaced them with new versions of the songs Sunrise, Back To The City, Cyanide, And Your Gone. Every other song on these albums was taken from the 2007 demos, which is Version 3, of the demos.
At this point I am doing demos on my own. I played the bass and guitars, and I program the computer to play drums. Although I would be happier playing music with a real drummer, there are some really great software programs for drums. I have a sheet music program (Tabledit software) that I used to document 81 songs. This software creates MIDI files. I use the MIDI files for drums. I convert the MIDI files into WAV files using Pistonsoft conversion software.
Version 5
All of these tracks were recorded in the past. This Version 5 has no new songs in it. Legacy of Power (SA0620) is the same as (SA0420 & SA0520) which was recorded in 2007. Ruins (SA640) is the same as (SA0540). For the albums Burned into Ash (SA0500), Medieval (SA0510), and Animal Instinct (SA0530) I moved the songs around. I put the tracks that didn’t fit with the rest of the albums, some of which are weaker tracks, on the box set album (SA0660) Animal Instinct Rarities. The Best of album, now part of the Animal Instinct Box Set, tracks were changed to fit the new track listings on the other albums. The live albums, Live & Live 2 have not been recorded yet.
